As part of the Hunter Farm Gathering Place project, concrete tiles will be installed around the perimeter of the courtyard meadow off of 35th Ave NE. This courtyard will provide a space for informal gatherings and seating as well as prairie grasses and wild flowers. But these won’t be just any concrete tiles. They’ll be artistically carved and beautified to provide color and interest to the site.

While this project is funded through a grant from Tully’s Coffee, community help is needed to build the project that the community developed. All donations are tax deductible.

It would be nice if the tile could include more characters so people could put a family name “Bowers Family.” I think with this opportunity more people would participate (not everyone has hundreds of dollars to donate for muliple tiles with each family members initials).

Great point, John. We kept it to 3 characters for initials because these will be hand carved tiles using grinders and will be very labor intensive. While we would have liked to have had the tiles sandblasted (or something similar), that’s very costly and beyond the scope of our budget and schedule since we only have 4 days to build this. You’re not the only to have thought about that though. Looking forward to working with you!
