Even More Progress Being Made on the Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project

Last week, we updated you on progress that had begun on the Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project, which included building a prototype wheelbarrow bench and having pieces for 30 bird houses cut out.  Since then, EVEN MORE progress has been made to prepare for the COMMUNITY BUILD between August 18-21 (Have you REGISTERED YET?).

On Monday, we had seven 40-foot cedar utility poles delivered to the site.  These poles were cut into 15 foot and 25 foot lengths, which were installed throughout the site as shown on the project design approved by the community on July 13th.  Yesterday, 11 pole sections were installed on site, 7 post sections were installed along the property line with the Post Office and 5 others installed to frame the proposed courtyard.   These posts are now ready for the community to whimsically paint and decorate them during the COMMUNITY BUILD!

In addition, several community members have started a personalized tile fundraiser for the project (BUY YOUR PERSONALIZED TILE NOW FOR JUST $35!); have been working to develop a planting plan for the micro-gardens, post office fence line, and meadow courtyard; have been sourcing old bike wheels for the wheelbarrow benches, designing banners from donated sails, and more.  There’s lots of exciting things happening in advance of the project’s COMMUNITY BUILD which is quickly approaching.  However, there’s still lots to do.  If you’d like to get involved or donate to the project, please do not hesitate to email » for more information.

See you guys on site on August 18-21!
