The PLANET:HOME Sustainable Living Festival on Saturday, July 21, will be an urban country fair.
The event, hosted by Sustainable NE Seattle, will feature live bands, tasty local food, fun games for kids and interactive learning opportunities. The festival will be from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Gathering Place at the Hunter Tree Farm, 7744 35th Ave NE, next to the Wedgwood Post Office.
Some of the PLANET:HOME activities will be tool sharpening (bring your dull tools) and a donation station where the NE Seattle Tool Library will accept donations of tools to be used for its collection. Tools should be in working condition, and no gas-powered tools will be accepted. The festival will have a Leave-One-Take-One share table for usable items you’d like to leave for others; and a produce and plant swap for you to bring homemade or home-grown items to barter.
In the morning the festival will have demonstrations and workshops on home skills such as rain gardens, how to make cedar lotion bars and healing salve from plants, remodeling pointers and solar hot water systems. In the afternoon a Master Gardener question-session will be held, and there will be musical entertainment. Watch for the rabbits on display, the cake walks, goat racing, and pie eating!
