SPU’S RainWise Contractor Fair – August 15th

SPU’s RainWise Contractor Fair
Wedgwood Elementary School
Wednesday, August 15th, 6-8PM

Want to get a free cistern (rain barrel) or have a rain garden built in your yard?  Well, that’s essentially what Seattle Public Utilities’ RainWise program does! You can meet contractors that can help you have it done at SPU’s RainWise Contractor Fair on Wednesday, August 15th at Wedgwood Elementary School from 6-8PM.  The fair will take place next to the rain garden the school put in 2 years ago next to their playground.

Earlier this year, SPU launched their RainWise program throughout much of Wedgwood, Bryant, and parts of Ravenna. Together, stormwater from these neighborhoods drains to North Union Bay within a combined sewer overflow system. During heavy large storms, the volume of stormwater exceeds the system and both stormwater and sewage enter the lake.  While SPU is making significant investments in their infrastructure, we can all help by doing our part to manage our stormwater on our property.

So come on out on Wednesday, August 15th, learn about cisterns, rain gardens, and what might work for you!
