Are you looking for a new place to walk on Saturday mornings? Every Saturday at 10:30 AM Team Jackson meets at the south parking lot of Jackson Golf Course, and you are cordially invited to join the team. Community volunteers called the Friends of Jackson Park Trail worked through the Neighborhood Matching Fund process with Seattle Parks Dept. to get the trail improvements. The trail is so new that it does not yet have signage, but the best place to start is at the main golf course parking lot. To get there, go west on NE 125th Street to 10th Ave NE. There is a traffic light; turn right on 10th Ave NE and continue 1/2 mile to the Jackson Golf Course parking lot at NE 135th Street. Just before the entrance to the parking lot you will see the gravel walking trail.
Some of the new trail goes through wooded areas and some goes along a fence with a clear view of the golf course. The trail is made of crushed rock and along its course there are some ups and downs and some stairs to climb. The complete perimeter loop around the golf course is 2.2 miles and takes about an hour for slow walkers.
