Monday, November 11, 2013 is Veterans Day. For the observance you may put out a flag at home and attend one of the community ceremonies to honor those who have served our country. Banks, post offices, schools, libraries and community centers will be closed for the holiday.
At the Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery on Aurora Avenue North at N. 111th Street activities will begin at 7 AM. There will be placement of a flag on every marker in the Lower Veterans Memorial Cemetery and volunteers are needed to accomplish this.
A music program will begin at 10:30 AM at the Lower Veterans Memorial Cemetery and at 11 AM the Service of Remembrance will begin. At all times, from 7 AM until the program begins, everyone is invited to move freely around the cemetery to see the markers and learn about the Medal of Honor recipients for Veterans Day.
