Community Health and Safety Fair! Emergency management, community organizations and health care partners are coming together to jointly sponsor a health and safety event on March 8th at the International District Community Center in Seattle from 11 am to 3 pm. Hands-on training and information will include: fire safety, CPR, and personal preparedness. Health insurance enrollment will also be available with In-Person Assistance provided in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Cambodian, Lao, Samoan and Thai. In this “show and tell” style class, you’ll see how everyday household items can be used to economically supplement your disaster and first aid supplies. We’ll share tips on how to put together a kit without breaking the bank (or your budget.)

Special workshop: Get the word out: Emergency messaging to vulnerable populations. Getting timely and accurate information to all citizens during a disaster is a life-safety priority. These messages must reach all facets of the community regardless of where people live, what languages they speak, and what abilities or disabilities they may have. Join us to learn more about emergency notification and warning to vulnerable populations, including the development and dissemination of key messages and the use of diverse networks to deliver time-sensitive, life-safety information.

SAVE THE DATES: Two Free Weekend Classes Coming in May – Earn Your Amateur Radio Operator License
· Technician-Class course will occur on the weekend of May 2-4
· General-Class course will occur on the weekend of May 23-25
Each weekend will include sessions held on Friday night (6:00-9:00pm), all-day Saturday (9:00-5:00pm), and all-day Sunday (9:00-5:00pm), with an exam session occurring on Sunday afternoon.
