Veterans Day November 11th

The Doughboy statue commemorates the veterans of World War One.

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 is Veterans Day. For the observance you may put out a flag at home and attend one of the community ceremonies to honor those who have served our country.

Banks, post offices, schools, libraries and community centers will be closed on Veterans Day.

At the Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery on Aurora Avenue North at N. 111th Street activities will begin at 7 AM.  Volunteers are needed to help place a flag on every marker in the Lower Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

A music program will begin at 10:30 AM and at 11 AM the Service of Remembrance will begin.  At all times, from 7 AM until the program begins, everyone is invited to move freely around the cemetery to see the markers and learn about the Medal of Honor recipients for Veterans Day.
