Wedgwood Meaningful Movies: Happy

Wedgwood Meaningful Movies presents the film “Happy” on Friday evening, December 12.  Doors open at 6:30 for refreshments and the movie will begin at 7 PM.  Please note the change of venue for this month: University Unitarian Church, 6556 35th Ave NE.  Enter the lower level of the building from the parking lot at the south end.

“Happy” explores ideas behind our most valued emotion – happiness.  Using visits with folks around the globe, as well as experts armed with fairly concrete conclusions, “Happy” ponders contemporary happiness.  Their results so far point in directions that happiness increases the more one is physically active, performs actions for the benefit of others rather than for oneself, and feels close to family and friends.  Having the opposite effect are obsessive pursuit of wealth, material goods, status and image.

Measure your own happiness index by taking the optional survey.  Survey results will be be part of the discussion following the movie, facilitated by special guest Laura Musikanski, Executive Director of The Happiness Alliance, home of The Happiness Initiative and Gross National Happiness Index.  Laura is a lawyer, an MBA, and the former Executive Director of Sustainable Seattle.
