Wedgwood Presbyterian Church wants the neighborhood to know that several trees are being removed this week on the “grassy lot” on 35th Ave NE at the corner of NE 80th Street, which the church owns. These trees have died or are dying of Dutch Elm disease.
It is very sad to see these big trees infected and killed by the Dutch Elm disease infestation, and sad to lose these trees in our urban forest. The newly planted native plant shrubs in the garden near the trees were dug up and will be returned/replanted after the tree removal activity is done.
The Seattle Tree Map, a project of Seattle Audubon Society, shows the distribution and types of trees in the Wedgwood neighborhood.
