Saturday, June 13 will be a big day of events in Seattle, with resultant traffic advisories. The University of Washington Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday afternoon, with an expected 40,000 people in attendance. Around Seattle Center, the runner’s route for the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon will mean street closures. And there is a Seattle Sounders game on Saturday evening at 7 PM.
Sunday, June 14 is Flag Day and a new tradition will be introduced at Seattle City Hall: a naturalization ceremony and a festival of civic engagement.
The Flag Day Festival will welcome new Americans, engage native-born citizens and invite all to come together and build civic strength at Seattle City Hall, located at 5th & Cherry Streets in downtown Seattle.
The free festival will start with a USCIS naturalization ceremony for new citizens and a “sworn again” oath-taking for current citizens. Then, everyone is invited to a fair where you can enjoy great food, listen to local musicians, take home a free Civic Action Toolkit and learn how to plug into Seattle’s civic life and make a difference. Doors open at 10:30 AM. Program begins at 11 AM and the festival will follow.
Everyone is welcome! Activities include the naturalization ceremony, free food, live music, games and activities for kids.
