Picnic Place in the Park

Wood chips have been delivered, ready to spread at the Work Party on Saturday, June 27, 2015.

Everyone is invited to a work party this Saturday morning, June 27 at 8 AM at Wedgwood’s Future Park, corner of NE 86th Street.  It is requested that volunteers bring rakes and shovels, and wheelbarrows would also be helpful.

The Future Park was once called Morningside Substation because City Light had electrical equipment on the site.  The corner of NE 86th Street is now “land-banked” with Seattle Parks Department while we wait for development funds.

For now, we can enjoy the space by doing some raking and trimming, and setting up picnic tables.  Everyone is invited to join in with the Work Party this Saturday.

Volunteers will also be asked to sign in and sign out, for credit as part of the matching grant to improve the Future Park space.  This project is funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle, Department of Neighborhoods.
