Kids can learn food preparation skills at a summer camp session right here in Wedgwood.
Summer camp registrations are open now and the Wedgwood area offers great variety — theater arts at Wedgwood Drama Studio, music & dance at All That Dance, nature programs from Seattle Audubon Society, and don’t forget COOKING! Yes, kids ages 8 to 15 can learn food preparation skills during week-long camps at Blue Plate Express, 7347 35th Ave NE in the storefront complex by Subway Sandwiches and Cherry Blossom BBQ.
Blue Plate owner, Bruce Bowen. has been teaching cooking classes to kids for over fifteen years. He is an experienced gourmet chef and now oversees the cooking and serving of school lunches to over 500 children daily.
Blue Plate camps are geared towards certain ages (see individual camp descriptions), however, ages are only a guideline. If your cook is a little younger or older it is not a problem; all that is asked is to be enthusiastic about food and cooking. Each weekly camp is limited to 10 participants. Instructor to child ratio is 1:4 or 1:5 (depending on activity).
