Update: Please check-in with the Wedgwood Broiler’s Facebook page for updates on their recovery. They’re doing their best to reopen in some fashion as quickly as possible.
Update 9/20/24: Yesterday, the Broiler posted a positve update on their Facebook page! If anyone has a leadon a sheet metal fabricator and commercial kitchen hood installer, please reach out to the Broiler!
At 2:37PM today, a fire was reported at the Wedgwood Broiler. According to SFD Live, 23 units were called in to control the blaze. Thankfully, per the Wedgwood Broiler’s Instagram account, the restraunt was not open at the time and no one was hurt. However, the fire has indefinitely closed the Wedgwood Broiler for the time being. While smoke and fire could be seen pouring out of the roof-top vent shortly after Seatle Fire Department responded, no details are known at this time on the cause of the incident. Additionally, we do not yet know the full extent of the damage to the Wedgwood Broiler or adjacent businesses.

Our hearts go out to everyone involved with the Wedgwood Broiler and the community that has developed around this neighborhood institution, which has been so wonderfully difficult to define. The fire raises difficult questions, particularly in light of the proposed redevelopment of the Wedgwood Center. But, those questions can be left until later. For now, in the immediate aftermath of this incident, we just want to extend our communal arms around the Wedgwood Broiler – particularly its long-time and dedicated owner, the friendly staff, and their loyal patrons. We are grateful no one was hurt and for the promptness of the Seattle Fire Department’s response to the incident in order to control the damage.

I went here for the first time last Friday with my daughter- we are both devastated for this loss. The response by SFD was outstanding and I am grateful to have moved to this lovely community. So sad.
We celebrated a birthday there last week, and deeply saddened that it will be the last Wedgwood Broiler Pot Roast of my lifetime. This has been a staple in my life, and a community institution. Wishing the best to Wedgwood team as they navigate their future paths.
Fingers crossed it won’t be.
This has always been a strong community & we welcome you. The Broiler is more like family than a business to many of us. We always got consistently good food, a warm environment, staff who were like family & made us welcome.
Lets join together to encourage reopening and support their ability to remain open as long possible. Hope the charisma of the Broiler can survive after construction of the new complex. Wherever they have a business we will be there.
I feel the same way Mary. So sad to see this.
I’m not sure when they will reopen.
Will you have the car show this year 2025 and if so what date.
The WCC does not organize the car show.
