The WCC partnered with the Lake City Greenways (now Lake City Streets Alliance) and NE Seattle Greenways (now NE Safe Streets) groups to prepare and host a community survey for users of NE 95th Street. The focus of this survey was on that stretch of NE 95th Street between Lake City Way and Sand Point Way. The survey recieved feedback from many users (236 respondents) who collectively called for urgent action to improve the corridor for all users and modes. The results of the survey are compelling (CLICK HERE).
We are pleased to report that those at the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) have responded promptly to this survey. We recognize that significant resources are necessary to make NE 95th Street a safe corridor for all users. But, we expect SDOT to continue to show the level of urgency this cooridor warrants when it comes to being creative, developing plans, and tee-ing up improvements for funding.
Frankly, I don’t see or experience any problems with the 95th St. corridor. I use it between Lake City Way and 45th Ave. NE almost daily. What complaints do folks have? There are much bigger priority street problems to deal with!
The complaints that people have are included in the survey results.
If you’re willing to share your bigger priority street problems are, that’d be great!
I’m sure it’s fine for folks who “use it” as in “drive on it”, but this is mainly for folks who live on or near the street, and who would like to be able to walk on it safely. Without a legitimate sidewalk, and cars exceeding the speed limit regularly, it’s basically unsafe for non-drivers. My kid is afraid to put the trash cans out with the cars speeding by 🙁
NE 95th is unsafe for walkers or cyclists. There is no connected sidewalk. Driver’s regularly fail to stop for pedestrians.
Driver’s exceed the speed limit and put everyone at risk.
The construction near 32nd Ave NE has just made conditionscwirse.
I hope they consider some improvements to 98th at the same time. A four way stop at Ravenna and 98th would be helpful. People speed up and down 98th when they are avoiding 95th
