At the start of June, we noted that activity within the Seattle’s SDCI Permit Portal showed updates to the contact list on the Master Use Permit indicating a new developer was taking over the project. This new developer, Madison Developement Group, had submitted both an update to the contact sheet as well as an update to the design package to address outstanding questions from the city. Activity on the project and the permit process appeared to be once again underway. However, to their credit, the property owner never did provide us with formal notification of this new developer despite our requests. Now, we have confirmation from the property owner that Madison Development Group chose not to move forward with the project. We understand the property owner is again looking for a new potential owner and developer of the property. We will share more information as we get it.
The white signs on the property will remain on-site while the Master Use Permit is still active. However, businesses like the Wedgwood Broiler, Van Gough Coffeehouse, Kawaii Nail Salon, and Wedgwood Hair Studio remain open for business. Mechanics Bank, formerly Homestreet Bank, will be moving to their new branch location at 35th Ave NE and NE 87th Street in the very near future. Please support our local businesses!
On the plus side, that means we’ll still have Wedgwood Broiler!
