Customers of Wells Fargo’s Wedgwood Branch began recieving letters on Monday, August 3rd, that the branch location is to close on November 4th.  This has been confirmed with staff at the branch.  We understand from staff at the branch that the decision was a business decision and that Wells Fargo does not have plans for the property, which they own.  The closure follows a pattern nationally of banks closing branches as more customers shift to online banking and appears to be similar to the closure of the former US Bank across the street, where Mechanics Bank will be relocating to Read More …

At the time of writing, the City of Seattle is in the middle of a major update to its comprehensive plan that they’ve branded the “One Seattle Plan.”  This plan began under the Harrell Administration but is continuing with the Wilson Administration. The city is required under the state’s Growth Management Act (GMA) to go complete an update to its comprehensive plan at least once every 10 years – a forward-looking, long-term document that plans over a 20-year period. The WCC is aware that the property owner of the Wedgwood Center has been in negotiations with a new developer for a few months. However, we had not been told who that new developer is and appreciate the necessary due-dilligence a developer needs to go through before being announced.  Earlier this month, however, it appears that this new developer at least introduced themselves formally to the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspection by updating the contacts associated with the Master Use Permit (MUP) for the Wedgwood Center project. Thanks to all who participated in our 2026 elections for the WCC board.  I’m pleased to share that we recieved enough votes to have met a quorum (50+ votes) per our bylaws and all who were on the ballot were elected. Those elected include Topher Lambert, Mackenzie Lambert, Chris Haskins, Juan Marroquin, Rachel Nathanson, and Per Johnson

The WCC partnered with the Lake City Greenways (now Lake City Streets Alliance) and NE Seattle Greenways (now NE Safe Streets) groups to prepare and host a community survey for users of NE 95th Street.  The focus of this survey was on that stretch of NE 95th Street between Lake City Way and Sand Point Way.  The survey recieved feedback from many users (236 respondents) who collectively called for urgent action to improve the corridor for all users and modes.
