New Condos Planned for Wedgwood at Former JCC Site

Wedgwood LLC, a development corporation affiliated with the Murray Franklyn family of companies, is preparing to build an 88-unit condominium with ground-level retail along 35th Ave NE at NE 86th. A new 4-story building would replace the building recently vacated by Stroum Jewish Community Center.

The project design is currently under review and will reportedly be on the agenda of a January 22 meeting of the Seattle Department of Planning and Development. We expect meeting details to be posted at www.seattle.gov/dpd/ as they become available.

Representatives of Wedgwood LLC and the Snell Partnership (the project architects) briefed the WCC trustees on the project at our December 18 meeting. Here are a few highlights:

  • estimated average price for single family condo: $600,000
  • building height: 44', the maximum allowed by code
  • parking: one stall per bedroom, will possibly seek some angle parking on 86th & 87th
  • estimated construction schedule: June 2008-mid 2009

Area residents within a mile of the project should receive notice of the proposed project and how to comment. The WCC will continue to monitor this project and welcomes your thoughts. Email wcc@scn.org or see back page for phone numbers.
