WCC Decides Not to Sue the City Regarding Pandora's Adult Cabaret

On Monday, the Wedgwood Community Council trustees discussed the possibility of suing the City over its permit issuance to the Pandora Adult Cabaret for the former Seven Seas Restaurant.  As you may be aware, this has been an issue that the WCC has been working on closely with the Maple Leaf Community Council, Ravenna-Bryant Community Association, Meadowbrook Community Council and the Stratford at Maple Leaf.  Due to the City’s response to our opposition, the sole form of recourse left to the WCC is a lawsuit. The case that we would be required to make before a King County judge would Read More …

Community Councils Meet with Owner of Pandora's Adult Cabaret

Earlier today, the presidents of the Wedgwood Community Council, Maple Leaf Community Council, and Ravenna-Bryant Community Association as well as the chairs of the land use committee for the WCC and MLCC met with the owner of the proposed Pandora Adult Cabaret.  This gesture of Mr. Walker was welcomed by the community councils; however, did nothing to change our contention that the Pandora Adult Cabaret shouldn’t be allowed by the City. This meeting followed the request of Mr. Walker, who posted in the comments section of several community blogs that he would like to meet to discuss his 27 years Read More …

Our Contention with the Pandora Adult Cabaret Explained

As Denise Whitaker with KOMO 4 News reported yesterday (watch video HERE and read her article HERE), the Wedgwood Community Council, Maple Leaf Community Council, and the Stratford at Maple Leaf believe that the adult cabaret permit issued for the proposed Pandora’s Adult Cabaret at the former Seven Seas restaurant was issued in error.  As mentioned in previous posts (HERE and HERE), we recognize that adult cabaret’s are legally protected uses, however their location is subject to their proximity to other adult cabarets and uses accustomed by children such as child cares, schools, community centers, parks and open space.  For Read More …

What's Going on With Pandora's Adult Cabaret?

Over the last several weeks, it’s been well reported that Wedgwood may be in line for a new adult cabaret at the former Seven Sea’s restaurant, located at 8914 Lake City Way NE.  The Wedgwood Community Council has formally opposed the adult cabaret and has been working with the Maple Leaf Community Council and Meadowbrook Community Council to complete the due diligence necessary to verify whether the adult cabaret is authorized as its proposed location.  The WCC has voiced its general opposition on this proposed adult cabaret and perceived deficiencies in the code through numerous emails to City officials; letters; Read More …

KOMO 4 News to Report on Wedgwood’s Proposed Adult Cabaret Tonight

The local media seems to have begun to pick up on the proposed adult cabaret in Wedgwood in the past couple of days.  First, the Wedgwood View blog posted a story their sister blog (Maple Leaf Life) had originally posted.  This was followed by a Seattle PI post about the proposed adult cabaret. Now, we understand that KOMO 4 news has interviewed the Executive Director of the Ryther Child Center and Joshua Newman, the President of the Maple Leaf Community Council.  While KOMO reached out to WCC for official comments earlier today.  However, we were finalizing our official position at Read More …

Adult Cabaret Planned for Wedgwood

The Seven Seas Restaurant at 8914 Lake City Way NE is schedule to undergo major changes in the very near future.  That’s because the City issued a permit in late April for an ‘adult cabaret’  establishment at the site.  The WCC has not spoken to the project proponent, Mr. Jack Johnson, and therefore we are unaware of the project’s schedule for construction and occupancy. The site is zoned C1-40 (commercial – 40 foot height limit).  Under Section 23.47A.4(H) of the Seattle Municipal Code, adult cabaret’s are authorized uses within commercial zones provided they’re located more than 800 feet from a Read More …
