NEDC Ranks WCC's Neighborhood Street Fund Project's 1 and 3!

As we reported earlier, the Northeast District Council (NEDC) met on April 7th and ranked the Neighborhood Street Fund project applications received by this year’s March deadline.  In total, 16 applications for projects were submitted within the NEDC area, 3 of which were submitted for Wedgwood: NE 77th Street and 25th Ave NE at main entrance to Dahl Playfield, Wedgwood/Ravenna neighborhood, near University Prep. NEDC to Evaluate Neighborhood Street Fund Projects on April 7

The North East District Council, which includes representatives from the community councils in the North East District (as the name implies) and the Dept. of Neighborhood, meets monthly throughout the year.  At the next meeting—Thursday, April 7, 7pm at the Wedgwood Presbyterian Church—the NEDC will discuss the various Neighborhood Street Fund applications that have been received and rank them.  Wedgwood has 3 projects that will be discussed at the meeting: 2 submitted by WCC trustees (Katie Travers and Gretchen Bear) and 1 submitted by Meg Goldman. WCC Submits Two Neighborhood Street Fund Project Applications

The Wedgwood Community Council is committed to bringing more sidewalks and safer streets to our neighborhood.  Sidewalks are in desperate need around many of our neighborhood schools which have designated school walk routes that force kids into walking on the street.  Additionally, pedestrians trying to cross 35th Ave NE, between 75th Street NE and 85th Street NE, often times take their lives into their own hands since there are no crosswalks for that 10-block stretch.
