Overwhelming Turn Out for the Hunter Farm Community Build

SAVE THE DATE: Tully’s Coffee will be throwing a Grand Opening Bash on Saturday, September 17th at 3:30pm at the site to celebrate.  Yes, there will be coffee amongst other great bash-related things.  More information in the coming days. Day 3 of the Hunter Farm Community Build

About 75 more folks came out to the Hunter Farm site today to help build a new gathering place for NE Seattle.  And today, things began to come together and take shape. Day 2 of the Hunter Farm Community Build

Day 2 of the Hunter Farm Community Build ended with the dulcet blue grass tones of Artichoke Ridge.  A little blue grass music and dancing is just the way to end a long day of work. Thanks to more than 205 unique volunteers, many of whom worked both Thursday and Friday, we’ve made a huge amount of progress towards our goal.   Also, special thanks to the Wedgwood Safeway today for providing food and beverages for all the workers. Day 1 of the Hunter Farm Community Build

What a day!  Thanks to the nearly 150 people that can out today to lend a hand in the Hunter Farm Community Build.  We were able to make some incredible progress with everyone’s help.  With everyone pitching in, we were able to: Build and paint 30 bird houses, Paint all of the tall poles on site, Build about 1/2 of the 20 movable benches, Start painting the banners (made from 2 donated sails), Begin preparing the planting beds, Cut the tall poles that were installed 2 weeks ago, Prepare holes for a pole fence in the NE corner of the Read More …

Emergency HUB planned for Hunter Farms Gathering Place Makes National News

Back on June 11th, the NE Seattle community identified a need which could be accommodated into the Hunter Farm Gathering Place project design.  The need was an Emergency HUB where NE Seattle residents could come to if there was a disaster to communicate with the City as well as share news and supplies.  Unbeknownst to the Wedgwood Community Council, the City’s Department of Neighborhoods was planning on limited the upcoming round of Small & Simple Grants to emergency preparedness, which Bill Dock with the WCC is planning on applying for.  It’s this kind of domino or ripple effect, which King Read More …

A Taste of What's to Come at Hunter's Tree Farm
