Transportation Enhancements: In improving transportation in Wedgwood, how important to you are the following?
#Response DateOther (please specify)
Mar 1, 2010 4:50 PMParking enforcement on 35th during morning commute - bikers need the right lane
Mar 2, 2010 5:18 AMWedgwood's current transportation infrastructure is despicable
Mar 2, 2010 6:22 PMIf drainabe means Rain gardens and new natural ways and not more storm water pipes and major colletction and treatment systems.
Mar 2, 2010 11:30 PMIntroduce vans to gather people from neighborhood and take them to bus lines
Mar 3, 2010 3:37 AMWidening 35th - south of 55th NE the road gets pretty tight when cars are parked on both sides.
Mar 3, 2010 3:41 PMWe have lots of bus service now, park 'n ride lots missing
Mar 3, 2010 4:22 PMNE 89th St. has NO lighting at all
Mar 3, 2010 4:41 PMLess cement/pavement overall. Potholes slow people down. Not enough parking? Sell car and walk/bike/bus. Easy
Mar 3, 2010 5:02 PMdrainage--let's get some of those swales/rain gardens going in the neighborhood
Mar 3, 2010 5:36 PMI dread the day we have parking meters in Wedgwood.
Mar 3, 2010 6:24 PMPeople should n ot have more than one car and they should park it on their own property. As oil becomes less available public transportation will become more important and traffic will be less of a problem.
Mar 3, 2010 8:36 PMGrafitti!!!!
Mar 3, 2010 8:37 PMParking in residential areas tends to slow traffic on residential streets. We do not need any more resstrictions on parking.
Mar 3, 2010 9:25 PMN.E. 87th Street, betw. 35th & 30th, drainage is a bad joke!
Mar 3, 2010 10:44 PMreplace traffic circles with 4way stopsigns!
Mar 3, 2010 10:47 PMKeep water infracstructure safe. Keep traffic down without the use of those tacky traffic circles. Keep buses out of Wedgwood. Bike lanes on 35th leave no room for cars.
Mar 4, 2010 12:31 AMVery concerned with speeding through-traffic on NE 80th St
Mar 4, 2010 1:59 AMPedestian Safety to me is not more crosswalks but wider sidewalks (see Queen Anne Hill for some pedestrian friendly areas)
Mar 4, 2010 2:15 AMSidewalks or reallocating roads for walkers needs review
Mar 4, 2010 2:19 AMIt's an ex-Seattle mayor's pipedream that bike lanes will reduce traffic congestion
Mar 4, 2010 3:31 AMno chacannes - speed bumps if necessary
Mar 4, 2010 3:54 AMRoad improvements such as improving inteersection of NE 95th & Lake City Wy NE.
Mar 4, 2010 4:02 AMGet rid of traffic circles and put in stop/yield signs.
Mar 4, 2010 4:04 AMParking seems very convenient in the neighborhood
Mar 4, 2010 4:43 AMBetter/wider sidewalks
Mar 4, 2010 6:33 AMMore sidewalks
Mar 4, 2010 7:14 AMSidewalks!!
Mar 4, 2010 6:53 PMWORK ON FLOW
Mar 4, 2010 7:57 PMput in sidewalks where there are none!
Mar 4, 2010 8:47 PMBetter sidewalks to manage safety and provide more definition for where cars can be parked and driven.
Mar 4, 2010 8:58 PM25th NE at around 8th has a huge drainage problem that is a safety hazard in winter!
Mar 5, 2010 2:14 AMSidewalks north of 85th if you classify this as a transportation improvement.
Mar 5, 2010 3:21 AMSidewalks please, particularly on 85th around Wedgwood Elementary its a danger zone!!!
Mar 5, 2010 3:32 AMsidewalks
Mar 5, 2010 4:51 AMAesthetic improvements for a more pleasant pedestrian experience
Mar 5, 2010 8:37 AMin order to encourage biking to work - and enable wegdwooders to not have to own a car - create options - ie public transport and bike lanes
Mar 5, 2010 4:02 PMagain - we need more traffic calming measures - i live on 30th ave NE and people speed way to much from 85th to 95th.
Mar 5, 2010 6:04 PMsidewalks
Mar 5, 2010 7:15 PMNot every inbound trip on Routes 71 and 76 needs to made the View Ridge loop. Alternate trips should go directly south on 40th Ave NE to NE 65th St, then continue on regular route. Would provide much faster service to U-District and downtown.
Mar 5, 2010 7:34 PMsidewalks and curb/gutter go hand-in-hand with the better drainage
Mar 5, 2010 9:05 PMtransferring U Dist is not convenient or fair to get dwntn
Mar 6, 2010 4:27 AMBy saying something is only "somewhat important" it is merely to say that current levels seem adequate to me.
Mar 6, 2010 5:13 AMDiscourage use of 35th as a thoroughfare.
Mar 6, 2010 4:49 PMIn general I am happy with the transportation, parking, etc. in Wedgwood, but I REALLY would like to see more sidewalks and curbs and less gravel shoulder parking. It is so unattractive and I think it lowers property values.
Mar 6, 2010 5:30 PMreduction of street run-off. A lot of icky stuff washes into the sewer ( and to the lake) from the steep hills around here.
Mar 6, 2010 10:23 PMPersonally, I'd like to see traffic barred at the Wedgwood boundaries with allowances for only frequent shuttles to outside parking lots and emergency vehicles. Perhaps one or two days a week delivery vehicles.
Mar 7, 2010 2:46 AMPedestrian and bike only streets
Mar 7, 2010 3:08 AMmove the bus stop on 85 next to QFC. It is a very dangerous stop to park a bus. Coming out of the QFC parking lot can be very dangerous.
Mar 7, 2010 3:09 PMSpeed control on the residential streets. I live off 98th, I know technically Meadowbrook, but cars speed up our street daily. Making it feel a bit like a major artirial.
Mar 7, 2010 3:48 PMside walks, side walks, side walks, widen side walks along 85th
Mar 7, 2010 10:11 PMWe already have better bus service than most other neighborhoods.
Mar 7, 2010 11:23 PMI am disabled so disabled parking is a must have.
Mar 7, 2010 11:40 PMNo speed bumps or traffic diverters!!
Mar 8, 2010 3:52 AMCan we get more parking at the Library?
Mar 8, 2010 5:34 AMdirect bus to downtown throughout the day, without having to go through the university district
Mar 8, 2010 8:39 AMsidewalks
Mar 8, 2010 5:34 PMSpecific pedestrian safety zone issue: 75th and 35th intersection. Need for turn signal lights for all directions.
Mar 8, 2010 7:27 PMI think the parking lot at the post office is scary! Not much room and quite a few older people driving. I've seen one or two times cars backing into each other.
Mar 9, 2010 3:45 PMLimit parking areas and improve public transportation. Keep streets paved, but limit new paving; imperviious surfaces harm drainage and local water retention. More motion detected lighting so we can limit the amount of night lighting.
Mar 9, 2010 7:41 PMPlease provide more crosswalks on 65th & 75th! No one stops and it's very difficult to cross the street.
Mar 9, 2010 9:19 PMSidewalks are very important and not even mentioned here!
Mar 10, 2010 4:09 PMAs a pedestrian I find crossing 35th Ave NE to be dangerous.
Mar 10, 2010 7:57 PMFaster response for abandoned vehicles - including ones on private property. Better enforcement of trimming plants from private property that encroach on the sidewalks
Mar 12, 2010 2:47 AMrain gardens/bioswales in parking strips
Mar 12, 2010 5:53 AMParticularly concerned with pedestrian friendly crossings on 35th Ave and associate traffic calming on 35th
Mar 12, 2010 9:52 PMSidewalks, sidewalks, sidewalks!!!!!!
Mar 13, 2010 6:10 AMsidewalks!!!, "walk" signal should be longer crossing 35th
Mar 13, 2010 3:31 PMWider lanes on 35th north of 65th. If there's a bus on 35th, it can barely avoid crossing the center line to pass the parked cars. 35th is too well traveled to have that narrowness--feeling like you're going to get sideswiped head-on, or side-swipe a parked car.
Mar 15, 2010 1:27 AMStreet lighting and drainage seem pretty good to me.
Mar 15, 2010 3:48 PMno more comm'l on 35th unless parking is provided for employees
Mar 15, 2010 5:56 PMsidewalks and wayfinding
Mar 15, 2010 8:17 PMBus service should have better DIRECT connectivity to downtown Seattle (the entire downtown area, not just the northern part) like it used to have. Eliminate the need to transfer from a # 65 to different bus in the dismal and threatening U-District for off-peak trips.
Mar 17, 2010 4:57 AMOn 30th AVE between 83rd and 85th is extremely dangerous for kids walking to school. This should be a priority for crosswalks, sidewalks, and traffic control. If sidewalks are too expensive, then just a curb with a gravel walkway should be constructed so kids have a safe place to walk. I have seen several near accidents there with parents zooming to park where small kids are walking. The cars and the kids need to be separted before there is a tragic accident.
Mar 17, 2010 7:14 AMsidewalks!!
Mar 17, 2010 9:00 AMLaurelhurst got its way when they diverted Metro bus #25 from downtown through Montlake to Wedgwood and back again, so their "help" could get to and from their homes. But the #71 takes about 50 minutes to get downtown, and if you take the #65, you have to transfer at Campus Parkway. Either way, for a disabled person it's a pain in the rear. But, that's what money gets; whatever they want. So, the answer/questioni is why can't they have a more direct route than the 71 that gets downtown faster? Money talks.
Mar 17, 2010 8:00 PMwater seepage on 25th Ave NE, at 8326 (my house) MUST be fixed by SPU. Proper drain pipes, not homeowner ad-hoc drains currently there.
Mar 22, 2010 4:38 PMSIDEWALKS!!!!!!!!
Mar 24, 2010 6:24 AMWhat is parking management? Like hotel/motel management? Do you require a person to do this job? Not in favor of employing people for this.
Mar 24, 2010 3:37 PMSidewalks
Mar 24, 2010 4:02 PMNo forced one-way roads or "circles" in street intersections. These are dangerous. Use speed bumps and stop signs.
Mar 25, 2010 9:08 PMsmaller buses, no "layover" stops to discourage non-residents from loitering here
Mar 26, 2010 5:52 AMbetter regulation of busses cutting the corners with lights
Mar 26, 2010 8:44 PMmore sidewalks
Mar 27, 2010 5:15 AMAre there problems? Wedgwood seems to work well!
Mar 27, 2010 3:59 PMLess places and help for cars, more place and ways for people to get around without cars: (Bus, bike, walk, etc)
Mar 30, 2010 3:11 AMIf we could promote more homeowners redirecting their rainwater to their yards and not down the drains that might help with some of the drainage. Streets need to allow for water to run thru pavement to allow for natural filtration. Can homeowners add motion sensor lights near sidewalks to help with lighting?
Mar 30, 2010 1:50 PMBuilding a non-religious public community space.
Mar 30, 2010 6:35 PMI like the swalls up on N.E. 17th for drainage. I wish we had them
Mar 30, 2010 7:27 PMthe traffic calming circles become a hazard when trees and bushes are not maintained. You have to maintain what you put in the ground!
Mar 31, 2010 3:58 AMShuttle service within the local neighborhood
Mar 31, 2010 6:03 PMWe need a crosswalk at the post office!
Apr 1, 2010 5:31 AMIf there was a better fast rush hour service to downtown I think more people would use it. The 64 service is just too limited.
Apr 1, 2010 7:22 AMThe half circles aim cars right at the sidewalk and peoples homes.
Apr 1, 2010 5:25 PMBetter marking/speed control at crosswalks
Apr 1, 2010 8:01 PMReduce speeding/bad manners at NE85th and 36thAveNE
Apr 3, 2010 6:01 AMSidewalk repair all over Wedgwood. Crosswalk at Post office.
Apr 4, 2010 5:41 AMI've been wanting to talk to the city about putting in a stop sign where 27th Ave NE runs into NE 85th Street. This is right beside Wedgwood Elementary. Several children live down the Dead End of 85th. Their is now sidewalk at the top of the driveway leading to the school. There are cars parked along the side of the street, forcing children and parents to walk in the street. Crossing over to the school is dangerous because 27th Ave is a steep curved road. Drivers race down it and can't see what's coming ahead. If there were a stop sign for people driving down 27th toward the elementary it would be safer to cross. Also it is dangerous for drivers going to their homes at the end of 85th, because due to cars on the street, we often have to "swerve" down to our driveway at the last possible moment - putting us in direct line with a car zooming around a blind curve.
Apr 4, 2010 11:08 PMBETTER bus service. The trips are too long and convoluted.
Apr 4, 2010 11:31 PMServices are fine. Fire 1/2 of the work force. Decrease taxes.
Apr 6, 2010 9:01 PMSingle bus to downtown during day - no transferring in U District required
Apr 7, 2010 4:46 PMsidewalks north of NE 85th St (parity with So of 85th)
Apr 7, 2010 5:00 PMStripe lanes along 35th, 65th, 75th to support 2 lanes in each direction when open; othewrise cars dangerously sort-of make 2 lanes but drift and cross-over!!; please sign turn/stright lane heading east on 75th near 35th so know need to split lanes sooner than have now; people dangerously quickly change lanes as coming up over hill; bus servie is not so much MORE as BETTER, that is, some going east & west say west along 75th to get across town easier, not just north and south; also, buses not just every 1/2 hour so if miss one bus isn't so long for next one (and/or spread out the schedule so can use the other busline if miss one); and, work with metro to have buses NOT ARRIVE EARLY, some time they can't control being late but being early severly undermines the usefulness of the busline
Apr 8, 2010 3:42 AMBetter bike lanes/sidewalk along NE 95 St.
Apr 8, 2010 5:47 AMDevelop system for "Rain Gardens" for stormwater run-off
Apr 8, 2010 3:27 PMsome of this involves budget, and I'm not sure there is much. let's be realistic...
Apr 8, 2010 3:53 PMWould love 40th to be repaved and include a bike lane
Apr 8, 2010 4:16 PMparking management windowmere real estate spill over
Apr 8, 2010 5:39 PMPedestrian safety is an issue. Traffic is heavy and way too fast. Corner of 35th and 80th (Rite Aid + QFC) is treacherous and I've been nearly run down on several occasions.
Apr 9, 2010 2:22 AMMore pedestrian and bike connections where non exist. Make walking and biking easier as well as safer so more people can do it.
Apr 10, 2010 5:39 PMMore and more frequent service to transit hubs (Roosevelt, UW, northgate). Currently not feasible for working adults to use transit outside of rush hours.
Apr 10, 2010 9:14 PMFor me it's not so much "more bus service", but better bus service. The ability to get quickly to a major bus hub and destinations, especially for teenagers who do not drive.
Apr 13, 2010 10:29 PMThe designers should never forget that water runs to our streams and Lake washington. Raingardens wherever possible.
May 7, 2010 4:48 AMmore curbs and sidewalks
May 9, 2010 4:51 AMInstall a left turn control lane at 75th.
