Would you like to see another annual (or quarterly or monthly) Wedgwood community social event?
#Response DateWe are interested in your ideas:
Mar 1, 2010 4:56 PMMaybe a film series like Meaningful Movies in Wallingford.
Mar 2, 2010 5:25 AMI'd love to see regular "Wedgwood Volunteers" events that get lots of neighbors together to pitch in and make our neighborhood a better place. We could get a lot done towards this plan that way without spending large amounts of money.
Mar 2, 2010 3:56 PMA mini family carnival of sorts
Mar 2, 2010 6:38 PMI would like to Wedgwood to support a more pro-active agenda on important North end issues, that involve and work other communiti es to achieve a number of livable issues. Wedgwood is not an island, and need to take part in major issues that are impacting our city negatively, such as expansion of highways, Magnuson park revisions, proposed reduction in transit services, new Sound Transit Light rail stations at the Stadium and NE 65th, improvement of the quality of our local schools et.
Mar 2, 2010 7:10 PMcommunity yard sale, BBQ, Taste of Wedgwood food event with live entertainment
Mar 2, 2010 7:49 PMFarmers market in wedgwood on 35th! Bring the meadowbrook farmers market to wedgwood!
Mar 2, 2010 10:00 PM"Meet-and-greets" with community leaders, like the WCC or WVP, in informal/drop-in settings like The Grateful Bread.
Mar 2, 2010 11:48 PMFarmers' Market in summer months; "Leave it to Beaver Night" with 1950-60s retro food, dress, music and classic car show...
Mar 3, 2010 3:39 AM???
Mar 3, 2010 6:46 AMChamber of Commerce meetings, Community events (pancake breakfast, etc) at a local school or church
Mar 3, 2010 7:12 AMSomething for singles
Mar 3, 2010 2:05 PM4th of July Parade?
Mar 3, 2010 2:48 PMinvite groups not native to wedgwood to use park or space here for their event ... mediviel fairs or car shows, or anything we can scale into the neighborhood
Mar 3, 2010 3:08 PMlarge scale, family play days at Dahl park
Mar 3, 2010 5:02 PMSwap meet. Or is there one already? For all of Wedgwood, not just a church.
Mar 3, 2010 5:44 PMKids carnival on a Saturday
Mar 3, 2010 5:59 PMFarmers market next to the post office! Let's rent the space as a community from Hunters!
Mar 3, 2010 6:19 PMI think a big annual bbq once we have the park open.
Mar 3, 2010 6:52 PMRenew and renovate the Wedgwood exchange (tradiing help). We could have a central place to announce activities that happen, like a focused book club, watching films and discussing them, neighborhood sand lot sports, a big food fair, park cleanup, neighborhood garage sale, even out to lunch and want conversation, c'mon over and play games, etc.etc.
Mar 3, 2010 7:13 PMSomething during December.
Mar 3, 2010 8:48 PMannual
Mar 3, 2010 8:53 PMI don't know
Mar 3, 2010 10:16 PMNot for me.........Probably a good idea for the younger residents....
Mar 3, 2010 10:57 PMCommunity yard sale
Mar 3, 2010 11:07 PMAnnual is probably plenty if you want to keep attendance up.
Mar 4, 2010 12:22 AMmake the social event more family friendly, face panting, balloons, games for children. It's hard to keep the kids engaged. There are lots of kids in this neighborhood.
Mar 4, 2010 1:04 AMPerhaps something involving live music.
Mar 4, 2010 2:23 AMmaybe a neighborhood wide block party type of gathering
Mar 4, 2010 2:24 AMThe community centers and churches offer some very fine offerings along with the schools. Publicizing these as much as possible would be wonderful and I hope they take advantage of the little Wedgwood Community paper. The Outdoor Cinema (which we were able to attend once) seems to serve like a huge community picnic.
Mar 4, 2010 2:27 AMInterstitial areas left out of the WCC neighborhood and others are outcasts to even what exists
Mar 4, 2010 2:39 AMIt is nice but usually don't attend.
Mar 4, 2010 3:29 AMmulti-lap bike races?
Mar 4, 2010 5:11 AMQuarterly perhaps, monthly no.
Mar 4, 2010 6:33 AMperhaps something more organized about emergency/disaster planning
Mar 4, 2010 7:38 AMSomething fun that gets money to benefit the community. I wasn't here to see the previous ones yet, but it would be fun to have one. Maybe a combination of things to donate money to the community and local business putting up booths or something. Or just local people selling things they are good at making.
Mar 4, 2010 4:56 PMFarmer's Market!
Mar 4, 2010 5:49 PMI somehow haven't heard of them before.
Mar 4, 2010 5:58 PMI'm not against another event
Mar 4, 2010 7:24 PMCommunity gatherings are vital to generating a cohesive community feel.
Mar 4, 2010 8:25 PMfolk festivals, host anything new from square dancing to auto shows
Mar 4, 2010 8:39 PMourdoor music festival adn dancing
Mar 4, 2010 8:50 PMourdoor boy scout events in parks or schools WIFI and technoloogy events
Mar 4, 2010 11:22 PMmusic
Mar 5, 2010 12:44 AMJust a meet and greet kind of thing, an ice cream social, maybe?
Mar 5, 2010 2:21 AMA farmers' market by the tree farm. This would be more convenient than the current Meadowbrook version.
Mar 5, 2010 2:45 AMa farmers market or something similar
Mar 5, 2010 3:21 AMSomething simiilar to the brautwurst festival in Wallingford
Mar 5, 2010 3:25 AMI would like to see the existing community events come together for mutual benefit - i.e. aligning date of Wedgwood art festival with summer movie night
Mar 5, 2010 3:41 AMA small annual parade that local children can participate in. A Farmers Market.
Mar 5, 2010 7:16 AMI'd go to a small farmers' mkt & flea market in summer on 80th & 35th. don't know if it's viable with lk cty & udist so close.
Mar 5, 2010 4:13 PMcrime watch/neighborhood prevention issues
Mar 5, 2010 4:26 PMI am aware of the outdoor cinema but have not gone
Mar 5, 2010 5:22 PMA community concert!
Mar 5, 2010 7:20 PMHard to answer this one since WCC has always said that I am not part of Wedgwood.
Mar 5, 2010 7:35 PMMaybe a social event. A parade, ice cream social, square dance, or food cook-off competition.
Mar 5, 2010 8:45 PMMusic There was the multi family yard sale that we participated in one year and that was fun!
Mar 5, 2010 10:47 PMart/book/food. sponsor a night out on the town once a month with art, music and anything we can imagine! businesses could be open. school children could provide entertainment!!
Mar 6, 2010 12:12 AMMaybe
Mar 6, 2010 1:57 AMBBQ,
Mar 6, 2010 3:09 AMMaybe a winter potluck
Mar 6, 2010 4:37 AMCinema night more than once a year. Picnics or whole-neighborhood garage sales at Hunter Tree Farm. More boyscout type events like selling compost.
Mar 6, 2010 4:53 AMmonthly outdoor cinema? all-neighborhood garage sales like we have 5 years ago?
Mar 6, 2010 5:24 AMA "Fiddlers" concert -- or some musical event that ties into Wedgwood history/tradition.
Mar 6, 2010 3:49 PMnot sure
Mar 6, 2010 4:56 PMI think on-going outdoor cinema in the summer would be fun - not just a one-time deal. I also think a farmer's market with produce, food vendors and craft booths like Freemont and Ballard would be great on a weekly basis in the summer. Maybe some kind of kids event...festival or carnival??
Mar 6, 2010 5:44 PMI like the idea of a summer block party. It is nice for families to have kid-friendly events but sometimes these end up being kid-focused. Young people without children don't have a lot in common with families with young kids.
Mar 6, 2010 8:00 PMrummage sale, plant sale
Mar 7, 2010 2:53 AMIce skating during the winter in Magnussen Park.
Mar 7, 2010 3:12 AMMaybe
Mar 7, 2010 4:36 AMNo specific idea--- I just would love the opportunity to hang out with my neighbors more often!
Mar 7, 2010 5:02 AMstreet fair or BBQ, kid/neighbor friendly things
Mar 7, 2010 5:09 AMsemiannual social
Mar 7, 2010 3:20 PMHow to prune your trees, organic gardens, curb appeal classes. proper recycling and yard waste.
Mar 7, 2010 8:48 PMplant swap, gleaning local fruit trees, garage sales
Mar 7, 2010 10:18 PMMaybe a sort of "Bite of Wedgwood".
Mar 7, 2010 10:30 PMGarden in public spaces.
Mar 8, 2010 12:35 AMHome tour
Mar 8, 2010 3:56 AMHoliday gift fair, with drinks in the back.
Mar 8, 2010 5:37 PMFamily dance night?
Mar 8, 2010 7:00 PMFarmer's market
Mar 8, 2010 7:32 PMAn annual carnival, arts fair or community fair would be fun!
Mar 8, 2010 10:59 PMfair, neighborhood garage sales,
Mar 8, 2010 11:12 PMSome kind of winter social event
Mar 9, 2010 2:53 AMOutdoor barbeque in summer? Get togethers hosted by local businesses?
Mar 9, 2010 5:55 AMMusic and food! A harvest fair. A groovy craft fair.
Mar 9, 2010 3:53 PMI would like more community rummage/yard sales (I remember one across from the Presbyterian Church years ago).
Mar 9, 2010 7:03 PMSome sort of summer music festival would be great! Or something with events / fun stuff for kids.
Mar 9, 2010 7:52 PMAnything to do with home maintenance (many of our homes were built in 1942!) and gardening/tree care and planting in Wedgwood. Sustainability events also.
Mar 10, 2010 5:10 AMArt or food festival---certainly activities for kids
Mar 10, 2010 5:30 AMindoor January movie? More democratic caucuses?
Mar 10, 2010 4:14 PMBlock watch updates.
Mar 10, 2010 6:33 PMMaybe a Fourth of July parade along 35th. (Although I'm not positive that would work. I think an awful lot of people in the neighborhood go out of town.)
Mar 10, 2010 8:02 PMFarmer's Market!!
Mar 10, 2010 9:37 PMnot sure
Mar 11, 2010 1:06 AMcultural events, music, dances
Mar 11, 2010 2:35 AMgarden tour, community potluck, commercial 'progressive' dinner - kinda like a 'taste' of wedgwood
Mar 11, 2010 5:23 AMdogfest
Mar 12, 2010 2:56 AMmaybe some kind of fair
Mar 12, 2010 4:03 AMneighborhood get togethers at local businesses.
Mar 12, 2010 8:57 PMFarmer's Market would be nice - I don't patronize the Fruit Lady
Mar 12, 2010 9:39 PMI most likely would not attend but these events I believe are good for the young neighbors and their children.
Mar 12, 2010 9:57 PMFarmer's market
Mar 13, 2010 2:08 AMBlock party
Mar 13, 2010 7:38 AMDidn't know there was one.
Mar 13, 2010 7:57 PMIf there was a town square I'd like to see small concerts in the park.
Mar 13, 2010 8:17 PMWinter festival of some sort (AFTER the holidays) like in February.
Mar 13, 2010 10:05 PMA farmers market would be fun in the summer - community BBQ in the summer - swap meet/garage sale?
Mar 15, 2010 1:34 AMPotluck dinner with sing-along?
Mar 15, 2010 3:10 AMgathering food for a food bank
Mar 15, 2010 11:23 PMfarmer's market
Mar 15, 2010 11:41 PMQuarterly, around non-religious events
Mar 16, 2010 3:53 PMOld-fashioned ice cream social. Caroling in the winter? Something to do with the Winter Solstice?
Mar 17, 2010 4:42 AMNo opinion
Mar 17, 2010 9:14 AMI'd like to be kept informed just in case I get a break from my "issues."
Mar 17, 2010 7:10 PMfarmer's market; holiday craft/art market
Mar 17, 2010 8:09 PMYoung Artists of Wedgwood spotlight. Under 12.
Mar 17, 2010 11:38 PMI'm not against adding something but it should flow naturally, not be forced by a required schedule.
Mar 18, 2010 3:09 AMsummer bbq
Mar 21, 2010 11:52 PMI like the idea of an annual outdoor "festival" in the summer - maybe at the parking lot/field by Hunters where there could be a combined garage + arts and craft sale (individuals could set up and sell what they want) + performers could do their thing and perhaps local food vendors could be a "Bite of Wedgwood" - people could drop in and maybe it would run from 2 - 6 or so, on a summer Saturday in latter part of August.
Mar 22, 2010 12:21 AMneighborhood garage sale
Mar 22, 2010 4:54 PMIt would be fun to have a kid-friendly street fair in conjunction with a summertime event - maybe the Art Festival. Thinking something similar to the Wallingford Kidfest - face painting, pony rides, little carnival games, etc.
Mar 22, 2010 5:31 PMDo something on 35th like a big barbecue in the Rite Aide or Safeway parking lot or something.
Mar 23, 2010 7:03 PMSomething during the holidays, maybe a sing-a-long or organized walk like at Greenlake. Close major intersections for street parties; more block parties; parties to paint intersections.
Mar 24, 2010 4:44 AMWow about a community dance at All That Dance? Could do an intergenerational dance or kids-only or adults-only, etc.
Mar 24, 2010 6:13 AMLiked the community garage sale held several years ago. What about a small parade coupled with the arts festival w/local businesses & fire trucks. Best one I ever went to was in a community east of Port Angeles, 2 blocks long but very meaningful since it was clear this was the community cheering each other on.
Mar 24, 2010 5:07 PMBeer, Wine, Food festivals
Mar 24, 2010 8:04 PMDoesn't matter.
Mar 24, 2010 10:52 PMWe are senior citizens who do not drive at night, so we cannot attend such meetings.
Mar 25, 2010 9:07 PMMusic? Book sale?
Mar 26, 2010 1:15 AMSomething more spicy. Helicopper races ... skydiving into the parks ... make wedwood a drop zone for skydiving or a baloon launch site ... or hold car or boat shows ... anything more exciting ...
Mar 27, 2010 5:01 AMI think it'd be neat to have more centrally entertaining locations for holiday or seasonal festivals, like Halloween/harvest, spring, and so on. There are thriving Jewish and Christian congregations--it'd be very cool to bring that diversity together and make it more prominent.
Mar 27, 2010 5:01 PMAnnual Cider/Fruit juice press. Barter Fair/Exchange
Mar 29, 2010 1:52 AMFarmers market, street festivals like Fremont and the U-District have, possibly a sustainability festival or fair.
Mar 29, 2010 4:12 PMvintage car show
Mar 30, 2010 3:30 AMSustainable NE Festival type Event
Mar 30, 2010 4:16 AMA sustainable living festival, like Ballard's ( Actually I'm involved in making that happen!)

Mar 30, 2010 7:58 AMGroup service projects working on neighborhood improvements. (quarterly?)
Mar 30, 2010 1:53 PMPuppet show!
Mar 30, 2010 4:39 PMSocial Activism, Classism, Racism, Agism, Sexism, Homophobia, Indigenous Rights, Environmentalism, Spirituality
Mar 30, 2010 6:40 PMLet's get a Community Solar project going with revenues pocketed by participants or donated to community projects.
Mar 30, 2010 11:35 PMfarmers markets, outdoor cinema, cultural street fairs
Mar 31, 2010 1:47 AMi don't know, something cool!
Mar 31, 2010 3:46 AMChildren's music concert in the park - it would be crazy!
Mar 31, 2010 4:05 AMI'm supporting the Sustainable NE Seattle summer event.
Apr 1, 2010 3:09 AMNOTE ALL RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS WHEN SCHEDULING WORK PARTIES, YARD SALES, AND MEETINGS. IF NOT, WHOLE SUB COMMUNITIES ARE AUTOMATICALLY EXCLUDED FROM THEM
Apr 1, 2010 4:37 AMPotluck dinners.
Apr 1, 2010 8:22 PMspring clean up sponsored by/lead by local businesses, summer neighborhood yard sale (perhaps benefiting a charity vs. for profit - either way is fine, though),
Apr 1, 2010 10:02 PMA weekly farmer's market.
Apr 2, 2010 5:03 AMmore outdoor movies, more kid-centric events
Apr 2, 2010 6:44 PMSomething to do with sustainability and being green.
Apr 3, 2010 6:13 AMAs in my former answer, a Wedgwood 4th of July Parade would be great for the neighborhood spirit. Live entertainment in the summertime at a public outdoor venue would add to the community.
Apr 3, 2010 4:57 PMMusic Festival (Classical and Jazz). Outdoor Plays (Shakespeare in the Park)
Apr 5, 2010 3:41 AMall-wedgwood garage sale; book exchange; creek (and other) cleanup
Apr 5, 2010 4:03 PMHow about a couple of big organized garage sale days each year? How about an annual day to be able to dispose of big rubbish articles?
Apr 5, 2010 5:32 PMDance or Bingo night Farmers market
Apr 5, 2010 8:36 PMcraft sale? garden sale? Farmer's market type of event?
Apr 6, 2010 5:31 AMUndecided about need for more events
Apr 7, 2010 2:48 AMNeighborhood work parties?
Apr 7, 2010 4:52 PMsee Laurelhurst neighborhood summer get together at park; possibly schedule with the Art Festival
Apr 8, 2010 3:47 AMA neighborhood festival where we close down a few blocks of 35th Ave NE and celebrate the people and businesses in the hood. Family friendly, of course!
Apr 8, 2010 4:26 AMA weekly farmer's market
Apr 8, 2010 5:51 AMnot sure.
Apr 8, 2010 6:50 AMPossibly. I have been too busy outside our neighborhood to participate much...
Apr 8, 2010 3:34 PMHow about a *carol sing* on about December 1X (maybe Thursday night?) next to Hunter's? Followed by cocoa and cookies in the WP Church basement! Don't mean to leave out our Jewish and other-faith or non-faith neighbors, so let's handle that delicately.
Apr 8, 2010 4:32 PMQuarterly would seem to be sufficient. Monthly would make you a pest.
Apr 8, 2010 5:48 PMWas not aware of any such events.
Apr 9, 2010 6:43 AMWhole community block party somewhere along 35th Ave NE
Apr 10, 2010 5:35 PMFarmers market.
Apr 10, 2010 9:45 PMWork parties in local parks and school grounds, art project parties for the public spaces; various club meetings (e.g. book club), public concerts and performances.
Apr 11, 2010 11:04 PMadditional block parties - perhaps one more per year
Apr 13, 2010 10:39 PMBrown bag discussions about local issues. Concerts (like at the art event) of local groups. Book readings especially local auhors.

May 4, 2010 4:19 AMPreference for art/music/theaters.
May 6, 2010 4:17 AMsupport tree related events that help us care for our trees. Identify and honor beautiful and mature trees. This might help educate people to protect their trees.
May 6, 2010 4:52 AMcoordinated garage sale like Fremont
May 7, 2010 5:43 AMstructured networking events
