Mar 1, 2010 4:56 PM | community kiosk / bulletin board
Mar 2, 2010 6:41 AM | park, sports field
Mar 3, 2010 7:37 AM | Note - student services, meeting space are important but are available at the library!
Mar 3, 2010 2:48 PM | city services office (pay bills and get jobs and such)
Mar 3, 2010 5:02 PM | Monthly or every other Month Flea Market
Mar 3, 2010 5:06 PM | town square
Mar 3, 2010 6:52 PM | I checked somewhat important for things that are available near wedgwood but should be in Wedgwood when people can't drive any more.
Mar 4, 2010 1:04 AM | Not entirely sure what some of these are, such as "legal clinic."
Mar 4, 2010 2:24 AM | I don't know what you mean by "shelters"; I know that some of the area churches offer services for the elderly, tutoring, etc. I love that we have a place to get glasses and a dentist and physical therapist close by. Are doctors close enough? Maybe a brochure detailing all the business/services in Wedgwood/Meadowbrook/View Ridge would be nice.
Mar 4, 2010 2:27 AM | These things will require walking address above
Mar 4, 2010 3:29 AM | shelter? as in .... ?
Mar 4, 2010 1:22 PM | NO shelters or so called "homeless" support.
Mar 4, 2010 8:59 PM | By "Shelters", I assume you mean "Homeless Shelters" and not "Transit Shelters" - please be much more specific!! While there are already a good number of daycare/preschools, there is not enough to satisfy demand! Especially full-day (8-5) preschools for working parents. I know, we recently looked. Not sure what "health clinic" would be as compared to my own general internist/family doctor... Not sure about the legal clinic, wouldn't that mostly appeal to low income residents? Is ther enough demand for that? Does the price of hosing in Wedgwood limit such demand? In this day and age, a community kiosk is the internet. "Push" communications out to people who have stated an interest in receiving such communications.
Mar 5, 2010 7:16 AM | can't the community meet in the libarary if it wanted to?
Mar 5, 2010 8:57 AM | swimming pool - okay, i am harping on this - but, the wedgwood pools list for those getting in for summer 2010 - the wait has been 12 YEARS - so those who put their names down now probably won't get in for 16 years!
Mar 5, 2010 7:25 PM | What do you mean by shelters? Bus shelters? Shelters for teens or the homeless?
Mar 5, 2010 10:47 PM | maybe a health clinic in rite aid or Safeway
Mar 6, 2010 4:01 AM | When you say shelters, do you mean bus shelters or shelters for the housing challenged? If the latter, no. If the former, yes.
Mar 6, 2010 4:37 AM | I'm all for students, but those centers tend to coincide with troubled youth getting together.
Mar 6, 2010 5:44 PM | I would really prefer a community kiosk to posters taped (forever!) to telephone poles.
Mar 6, 2010 10:34 PM | Shelters? Homeless shelters?
Mar 7, 2010 7:35 AM | athletic facility
Mar 8, 2010 1:27 AM | Community kiosk should be at the hunter tree farm park site; this is the ideal place for a community gathering place; THE third place for the community!
Mar 8, 2010 4:49 AM | what kind of shelters? bus shelters or sheltered housing or animal shelters?
Mar 8, 2010 10:10 PM | We already have great communty meeeting space at the library, don't we?
Mar 9, 2010 12:11 AM | No Homeless shelters in Wedgwood!
Mar 9, 2010 3:53 PM | Hosting of Tent City.
Mar 9, 2010 7:52 PM | dog park
Mar 10, 2010 4:32 AM | There is a daycare shortage in Seattle, and will continue to be for years
Mar 10, 2010 6:33 PM | I don't have a sense of how to answer a couple of these questions.
Mar 10, 2010 9:37 PM | lots of school centered programs currently exist. keep them in proper place, between parents and school district.
Mar 10, 2010 10:58 PM | we already have community meeting place - NE library
Mar 11, 2010 12:23 AM | When I say it's not important, I might mean "we seem to have enough." I don't know if you mean shelters like bus shelters, or shelters like homeless shelters.
Mar 11, 2010 1:06 AM | food bank
Mar 12, 2010 9:39 PM | WE have the meadowbrook facility why do we need another?
Mar 12, 2010 10:09 PM | Definitely farmers market!!! AT Hunter's Tree Lot!!
Mar 15, 2010 1:34 AM | Not sure what you mean by "shelters"
Mar 15, 2010 8:26 PM | Food bank
Mar 15, 2010 11:41 PM | adequate bus shelter on 40th ave ne and ne 82nd st
Mar 16, 2010 10:03 PM | Some of these things I would not use but I think they are important for the community.
Mar 22, 2010 4:42 PM | A park!
Mar 24, 2010 4:44 AM | activity center is the big one for me - think a multi-use space (with a pool) would be a HUGE draw for the neighborhood
Mar 24, 2010 6:13 AM | Any way we can modify the old JCC to a community use space?
Mar 24, 2010 2:39 PM | I belong to Group Health and go to Northgate clinic
Mar 27, 2010 5:01 AM | All of those sound terrific.
Mar 27, 2010 5:01 PM | Health clinic... Naturapathic/Homeopathic
Mar 29, 2010 5:17 AM | legal clinic, shelters, I don't really have an opinion on
Mar 30, 2010 5:05 AM | Assuming "shelters" means "bus shelters"
Mar 30, 2010 5:09 AM | Yes, a full-fledged Senior Center would be a great idea!
Mar 30, 2010 1:53 PM | Fruit Trees!
Mar 30, 2010 7:31 PM | Before you invote more shelters you should investigate the number of half way houses and alternative arrangements are already here. THis neighborhood is saturated compared to other neighborhoods.
Mar 31, 2010 4:59 AM | IF some of these are considered lacking (hence my blanks), look at existing businesses and spaces.
Mar 31, 2010 6:09 PM | A new park, please! Without a central-Wedgwood park, Wedgwood is sort of a sloughed off and cloudy street of vendors, services, retailers, and oddities. With a park, it would definitely be more of a vibrant, identifiable, and unified community. By the way, your category "Shelters" is unclear --homeless shelters? bus shelters? bike shelters?
Apr 4, 2010 6:05 AM | I love the idea of a Farmer's Market! A community meeting space would be nice, if it was used to offer interesting classes, etc.
Apr 4, 2010 11:12 PM | What type of shelters?
Apr 5, 2010 2:08 AM | ? "shelters" ?
