How Would You Spend $50,000? You Have Until the End of January to Submit Your Ideas.

In October, we shared the exciting news that part of Wedgwood won $50,000 through CleanScapes pretty amazing Neighborhood Waste Reduction Rewards program.  As it turned out, during the year long competition between service collection areas, the Tuesday North collection area was able to reduce their waste by 400 tons (4.7% decrease), more than any other service area.  Therefore, CleanScapes is donating a project or projects up to $50,000 in cost to the Tuesday collection service area, which includes a portion of western Wedgwood along with Ravenna, Bryant, and Roosevelt.

At our January General Meeting this past Wednesday, Signe Gilson and Quinn Schweizer shared the news on who can submit ideas (anyone in the city can apply), how to apply (complete and send in this form), when the deadline is for applications (January 31st), and where the project(s) can occur (on public property within the Tuesday collection service area).

This isn’t the first time CleanScapes has offered the Neighborhood Waste Reduction Rewards program.  In fact, CleanScapes just completed 2 projects that were selected from last years service collection area!

  • Montlake at 24th and Boyer – A public park that installed a cedar bench and information kiosk.
  • Madrona at 35th and Cherry – Bronze Pacific madrona tree rings installed within the sidewalk of the business district at historical landmarks.
