What is there to do this weekend in Wedgwood? The ducks of NE 85th Street (pictured at right) have their sunglasses on, lawn chairs at the ready, hoping to catch some rays of the sun.
On the weekend you can take a stroll around Wedgwood and admire the flowers coming up….in other people’s gardens! It just might inspire you to get to work on your own. On your walks around the Wedgwood neighborhood this weekend, be sure to stop by the Javasti coffee shop, indulge in coffee and fresh pastries, admire the recently remodelled rooms, sit out on the fresh-air sidewalk seating……and get a good look at the progress on the new Jasper Apartment building across the street.
Farther afield, Magnuson Park is always a good choice for enjoying a beautiful day. If you drive along Sand Point Way to get to the park, watch out for the construction going on at Children’s Hospital – it sometimes affects traffic. And if you just want to know what’s going on with that project, you can get hospital construction updates at: http://construction.seattlechildrens.org/weekly-construction-bulletin/
How about some music on Sunday afternoon? The perfect choice is the Wedgwood Ale House where Irish Traditional Music is playing from 2 to 4:30 PM in the dining room (families are welcome.) Renowed local artist Randal Bays leads the sessions: http://www.randalbays.com/
Coming up in May, The Fiddler’s Inn will feature music while enjoying a barbeque out on the patio, on May 19th during Beer Week. Local artist Eric Miller will entertain. You can check out Eric Miller ahead of time by seeing him at the Hopvine Pub on Capitol Hill on May 6th, 7 to 10 PM. The Hopvine is in the same ownership group as the Latona and Fiddler’s. The Hopvine is located at 507 15th Ave East, and more info on the First Sunday music program is at http://www.ericmillersongs.com/
