The City is offering FREE TREES through the Seattle reLeaf “Trees for Neighborhoods” program to plant in along your sidewalk or in your yard. Through the program, the City will provide you free trees (up to 4!), watering bags, training on tree planting and care, and a coupon for compost!
There are limited quantities of trees (see which species are still available), so don’t wait. Street trees require a permit to make sure that they’re sited properly to avoid impacting utilities. There are some things to consider when selecting a tree for a street tree. If you’re interested in applying for free trees, you can do so online or by filling out this application.
- September 1st: Applications for street trees are due
- October 21st: Applications for yard trees are due
- Training sessions on tree care: on either October 27th or November 10th
