It’s September and soon enough the rains will set in. Now is the perfect time to plant, while the soil is still warm enough to encourage root growth and help plants become well-established before next spring and summer. At the end of a long season we can see all too clearly what worked well this year in our gardens, and what didn’t. Would you like to replace some dead plants? How about getting some fall color, including late-bloomers to perk up autumn pots? This Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15 the Northwest Horticultural Society will have an impressive array of vendors at their Fall Plant Sale. More than twenty nurseries will participate. The hours of the sale are: Friday, September 14, noon to 6 PM, and Saturday, September 15, 9 AM to 2 PM.
The Fall Plant Sale will be held at North Seattle Community College, Arts & Sciences Building Garage, 9600 College Way N., Seattle, WA 98103. Suggested driving directions from Wedgwood: go west on NE 75th Street until the road curves and becomes Banner Way. At the four-way flashing stoplight, turn right onto 5th Ave NE.
