Salmon Celebration at Carkeek Park

The annual Pipers Creek Salmon Celebration will be held at Carkeek Park on Friday, November 23, the day after Thanksgiving, from 11 AM to 1 PM. There will be treats, warm drinks, music, kids activities, and plenty of fish in the creek.  Salmon Stewards will be on hand to answer questions about the life cycle of the salmon.  The Stewards are volunteers in a program run collaboratively by Seattle Parks & Recreation and the Restore our Waters program at Seatttle Public Utilities.  Since 1980 volunteers from the Carkeek Watershed Community Action Project have been helping to build up salmon production in the Pipers Creek watershed.  Recently an owl (photo) spent the day watching the volunteers test water quality in the creek.
