Yesler Swamp is part of the larger Union Bay Natural Area and is adjacent to the Center for Urban Horticulture at 3501 NE 41st Street in Laurelhurst. The Yesler Swamp Trail is easily accessed from the eastern corner of the parking lot at the Center for Urban Horticulture. The Friends of Yesler Swamp, led by Professor Kern Ewing, School of Forest Resources/Plant Ecology at the University of Washington, are working to get rid of invasive plants and improve the habitat for native plants, birds, and fish. The work party will be on Saturday, June 22, from 10 to noon. More info and the history of Yesler Swamp is on the group’s webpage.
