Beginning Monday, November 4, 2013, open hours at the Northeast Branch Library will be temporarily reduced for about four weeks while improvements are made to the building. The new hours will be:
- 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday
- 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday
- Closed Friday
- 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
- 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday
Upcoming improvements are based on branch usage, circulation and demographics, and trends in library services:
- Larger children’s area
- Family-friendly seating
- More filtered computers for children
- More self-service checkout stations
The changes are part of City Librarian Marcellus Turner’s vision for the Library. One of his five service priorities is redesigning spaces in our libraries to better meet the changing needs and expectation of patrons.
