Wedgwood School News and Events

Principal & PTA Coffee Chat for prospective families of Wedgwood School:

If you did not get an opportunity to join the Wedgwood evening school tour last week or if you did attend and came up with new questions, then please come on Thursday, February 27 in the Wedgwood Elementary School Library from 8 to 9:30 AM (morning). This will be another opportunity for prospective families to meet Principal Chris Cronas, and members of the PTA and to ask questions about Wedgwood School and ways to get involved.  No registration or RSVP required. See the Wedgwood School webpage for more news and events.

PTA Parent Lecture Series:

In response to requests for a discussion on bullying, we are bringing in David Lowe, Head Teacher at Wedgwood School, to host the discussion on what we’re doing to prevent bullying.  Please join us on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30 pm for the 2nd talk in our 2013-2014 Parent Lecture Series and PTA General Membership Meeting where Mr. Lowe will:

  • provide details on the bullying prevention programs (Second Step and Steps to Respect) Wedgwood follows in its classrooms.
  • review how we teach our students to recognize positive and negative behaviors and take control in situations that can make them feel powerless.
  • share tips on what to look for if you think your child is being bullied, and how to help him/her respond to these situations.

Mr. Lowe will also share where the implementation of the new PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) system is headed, both this year and into next, as well as what you can do at home to help your child build on the positive behavior work at school. We look forward to seeing all of you there!
