Are you making a New Year’s Resolution to volunteer in your community? You can also help the environment by volunteering at a work party along the Burke-Gilman Trail on Wednesday, December 31 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Meet at the corner of NE 70th Street where the Trail crosses the road. The party will go northward, so if you arrive late, walk north on the Trail until you find the group.
Work parties help restore and save the native environment along the bike trail. By participating you can learn more about native plants and the process of restoring this area to its natural habitat. The New Year’s Eve volunteers will remove invasive plants, clear space for native plants to grow, spread wood chips to enhance the soil, and plant some native plants in this area. Come be a part of this multi-year effort and get a stewardship award.
