CrimeWatch: NPAC Meeting

Are you interested in keeping closer watch on crime patterns and having input into community policing?  You can attend the North Precinct Advisory Committee meeting (NPAC) which is held on the first Wednesday of each month.  Minutes of past meetings are posted on the NPAC webpage.

The NPAC meeting is held on the campus of North Seattle Community College and the meetings are open to the public.  Each month there are speakers and a time for questions and answers.

The meeting on Wednesday, May 6th, will feature the topic of nuisance properties.  Brendan Brophy, the Seattle City Attorney’s office North Precinct liaison, and Dave Gordon of the North Precinct Community Police Team, will give info about what is being done about squatters in rental properties.  Squatters have been taking advantage of a loophole in a law which was intended to prevent unjust evictions.  Squatters watch for vacant rental houses, move in, and then claim to have a legitimate right to live there after 72 hours occupancy.
