The North Precinct Advisory Council (NPAC) meets on the first Wednesday of every month. The meetings are open to the public and each meeting has a speaker with updates on issues. The minutes of each meeting are posted at a link on the NPAC page.
At the September meeting, the North Precinct’s new Operations Commander, Lieutenant David Sweeney, gave an update on crime statistics. Overall, crime is down in north Seattle, but robberies of businesses have increased. The Major Crimes Task Force had a six-week emphasis this summer in four areas of north Seattle, including Lake City Way NE. There were a number of arrests, and stolen vehicles were recovered.
The precinct update noted that theft of packages from porches is a continuing problem. The Police Department encourages people to use secure delivery options such as Amazon lockers, taking delivery at your workplace or arranging for home delivery on a date when someone will be there to receive the package.
Everyone is encouraged to sign up for Seattle’s new emergency alerts system called Alert Seattle.
Mark your calendar for the next NPAC meeting, Wednesday, October 7, 2015. The meetings are from 7 to 8 PM and are held on the campus of North Seattle Community College.
