Our thanks to Sarah of the Seattle Greenlaker blog, for these tips on how and when to use the non-emergency phone number at the Seattle Police Department:
The Seattle Police non-emergency phone number can be used if you see suspicious activity near your house, if you hear noisy folks at 3 AM, or if you find discarded mail or other property. When calling the non-emergency number it takes about five minutes to get through all the prompts until you finally get someone on the line.
Dial the Seattle Police non emergency number: 206-625-5011 then dial 2 and then dial 8. You have to wait a moment in between dialing those last two numbers but it could save you a few minutes.
The Seattle Police Department lists these guidelines for using the non-emergency phone number:
- You want to report a nuisance, such as noise or a parking complaint.
- To report a non-emergency crime – one that happened a while ago, there is no direct danger, and the suspects are not in the immediate area.
- You have questions about something suspicious occurring in your neighborhood, and you are not sure it is criminal activity.
If you want to report an abandoned car, you can do that online here.
I would just like to thank all of you Front-line personnel for a fantastic job you have done over the years and especially now during this most difficult time we are all experiencing with the life changes Coronavirus Pandemic
has presented.
I thank you and may God Bless you and keep you safe, always.
Love,
Althea A. Coleman
