Watch Out for Critters

In the Spring season wild animals are out and about and may be more visible.

raccoonCoyote sightings have been reported around northeast Seattle and it is more common in Spring weather.  Smaller animals like raccoons, squirrels, and rats are looking for places to raise families at this season, and they can become a nuisance if they take up residence under a porch, in a crawl space, garage, attic, or other areas you don’t want them. Sealing up spaces where these animals try to nest or den is the first step to avoid nuisance situations. Learn more at http://wdfw.wa.gov/living/nuisance/ .

The City of Seattle doesn’t have a rat eradication service but only responds to associated complaints such as illegal dumping or accumulation of garbage which will attract rats.   You can consult the King County Public Health Department for info on rat control but a private exterminator must be called for a rat problem in your yard or buildings.
