Roosevelt Way NE Traffic Advisory

If you travel through the Roosevelt and University Bridge areas, be apprised of the dates of paving and of bridge closings during summer road work.  Note that University Bridge will be closed for the weekend of July 22-25 and again the following weekend, July 29 to August 1.

Roosevelt Paving & Safety Project
Zone B paving has been scheduled to occur the night of Monday, July 11, weather depending. Paving will take place at night to consolidate impacts and complete work safely and efficiently, resulting in a full closure of Roosevelt Way in Zone B.

After paving is complete in Zone B, construction will move to Zone C, between NE 53rd and NE 45th streets. Unlike Zones A and B, work will begin with grinding the road surface. Pavement grinding is tentatively scheduled for the nights of July 12 – 14. One lane will remain open on Roosevelt during this work. Construction in Zone C is expected to take 4-6 weeks to complete.
The University Bridge will be closed to all traffic two weekends in July and one weekend in August. Closures may begin as early as 8 PM on Friday evenings and continue through 5 AM on Monday mornings. The University Bridge will be closed on the following weekends, including night work:
  • Friday, July 22 through Monday, July 25
  • Friday, July 29 through Monday, August 1
  • Friday, August 5 through Monday, August 8

Three weekend closures are necessary so crews can grind off the old pavement then inspect and make any repairs to the base layer of concrete and the expansion joints. Once this work is complete, crews will overlay the new pavement and allow time for it to cure.

SDOT will send weekly email updates throughout construction and keep the project webpage up to date. Please share  this link   to sign up to receive construction updates via email. More information is available on the project webpage.
