The Mayor of Seattle has signed legislation on the zoning changes which were recommended for Lake City.

One of the first new projects which will be built is an affordable-housing apartment building at 12704 30th Ave NE, in place of the old Fire Station 39.  The new building will have seventy apartments and will have space for a preschool and before/after school care to help support working families.

Designs for the new building are still in process with Runberg Architecture Group. Design studies and suggestions have included orienting the building toward 127th and not 30th Avenue NE; maintaining good security along 30th Ave NE with ample building and street lighting; and incorporating Lake City Neighborhood Design Standards.
