October is the month to enjoy harvest festivals and Halloween. Activities for children in October 2016 will include Halloween, October 31st, when Wedgwood will have its traditional trick-or-treat in the business district.
On Friday, October 7th from 5 to 7 PM there will be a Harvest Festival in the parking lot of the Meadowbrook Community Center at 10517 35th Ave NE. In celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, October 15th, there will be a festival from 9 AM to noon at Virgil Flaim Park at 2700 NE 123rd Street in Lake City. The day’s tree-themed activities sponsored by Seattle ReLeaf will include facilitated tree-climbing, volunteer tree-planting, a neighborhood tree walk and apple cider pressing.
This year the Wedgwood Business District Trick-or-Treat will be on Halloween, Monday, October 31st from 4 to 6 PM. Look for an orange flyer posted in the windows of participating businesses along 35th Ave NE. Wedgwood Community Council volunteers will serve as crossing guards at the intersections of NE 75th and 85th Streets and will give out WCC contact cards and complimentary glow sticks.
