Hundreds Turn Out for the Fantastic Mr. Fox

This past Saturday, over 350 people showed up to Thornton Creek Elementary for Wedgwood’s 9th Annual Outdoor Cinema where “Fantastic Mr. Fox” lit up the giant, inflatable silver screen. Prior to the main attraction, early birds braved the ideal weather with free ice cream cones from the Metropolitan Market, free Italian sodas from the ladies at Van Gough Coffeehouse, and delicious kettle corn.  Our local firefighters from Station 40 stopped.  Funk and soul tunes were again provide by “Soul Purpose.”  HomeStreet Bank hosted a contest for a gift certificate to the Wedgwood Broiler.  And the WCC sold “Wedgwood” t-shirts. Outdoor Cinema: A FANTASTIC FOX to be spotted in Wedgwood, August 6th

On August 8th, a member of the genus Vulpes will be featured on the big screen during Wedgwood’s 9th Annual Wedgwood Outdoor Cinema at Thornton Creek Elementary.  This years movie will be the highly acclaimed Fantastic Mr. Fox.  Music, food, and fun will begin around 7:30pm, with the movie beginning around 9:30pm. Fantastic Mr. Fox was nominated for 2 Oscars and features the voice-over talents of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Bill Murray. The ever popular Wedgwood Outdoor Cinema is scheduled for August 6th at Thornton Creek Elementary!  The date was moved a a couple weeks later to allow for an earlier start time and avoid conflicts with Seafair weekend. 7th Annual Outdoor Cinema Another Success

The Wedgwood Community Council (WCC) presented our 7th annual Outdoor Cinema on Saturday, July 11th. The family-friendly event was hosted by Principal John Miner of Thornton Creek School, located at their playfield on 77th and 43rd Ave. The WCC, which represents approximately 3,000 homes, sponsors numerous events that bring the community together; the Outdoor Cinema is our most popular event and one which Wedgwoodians anticipate each summer. Delicious 2008 Outdoor Cinema

This year’s event seemed more like a Bite of Wedgwood with hot dogs and ice cream courtesy of Metropolitan Market, Varlamos’ calzones, Atlas Food’s barbecued pork sandwiches and slaw and iced beverages compliments of Café Van Gogh and Starbucks. Not that anyone is complaining about free food! Fifth Annual Outdoor Cinema Another Success!

This year’s event was a hit with over 900 people turning out to watch E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial under overcast but dry skies! The fun-filled evening kicked off with a visit from our local firefighters at fire station #40. Kids enjoyed the face painting, piñatas, water balloon toss and folks of all ages participated in the limbo contest. 2006 Outdoor Cinema a Big Hit

The fourth annual Wedgwood Outdoor Cinema was an overwhelming hit! At least 700 Wedgwoodians turned out for an evening of fun that kicked off at 7:30pm. Pre-movie activities included face painting, piñatas, a water balloon toss, limbo, and a visit from our local fire station #40!
