A Beautiful Day for a Safeway Ribbon Cutting

On Friday, the Wedgwood Safeway threw a preview party with music from Roosevelt High School and Eckstein Middle School to begin their Grand Re-Opening festivities. Saturday morning, these festivities continued with a brief message from new store manager, Steve Smith, a formal ribbon cutting ceremony, and free “Wedgwood Safeway” reusable grocery bags. A representative from Children’s Hospital also took part to thank Safeway for their employee’s charitable donations. Safeway Remodel – Construction Update

Our thanks to Safeway for providing us with a progress report on their remodel.  To review all of the amenities and services that will be included in this remodel, please see our earlier report. The following summary is from Safeway: Exterior: The new expansion area at the front of the store is structurally complete.  The walls are up and the roof is connected to the existing building.  Work on the interior of the new space has begun.  A new customer service area, the store manager’s office and those types of uses will move in to this new space.  The new Read More …

The Wedgwood Safeway is Being Remodeled

For those that aren’t WCC members (I mean really, why wouldn’t you?), you may not have seen that the Land Use Committee provided an update in the November 2010 edition of the Wedgwood Echo Newsletter on the conversations they’ve had with Safeway in anticipation of their massive remodel of the Wedgwood store.  While Safeway had originally pursued a full redevelopment of their site, the economics of that project became prohibitive.
