Tiss the Season for the Hunter Tree Farm

Shortly before Thanksgiving, activity began again at the Hunter Farm to get ready for this season’s year annual visit by the Hunter Family.  The family spends just under 4 weeks in Wedgwood each year selling Christmas trees.  Today was an especially busy day at their tree lot.  Welcome back to Wedgwood, Hunter Family.  And again, thanks for opening up your lot during the rest of the year to the community.

Pumpkins For Sale at the Hunter Farm This Year!

It’s not enough to buy your Christmas trees, raspberries, and blueberries at the Hunter Farm site.  This year, the Hunter Family will be selling pumpkins too!  That’s right, pumpkins will be available to the neighborhood starting this Saturday, October 1st at 9AM and continuing for the first 3 weekends in October!   So, you can grab your pumpkin and check out our new gathering place all at the same time.

GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION FOR THE HUNTER FARM PROJECT, SEPTEMBER 17TH

Grand Opening Bash – Saturday, September 17th, 3:30PM The Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project will come to a close on Saturday, September 17th when Tully’s Coffee throws an Grand Opening Bash starting at 3:30pm.  The festivities will include a few words from the people at Tully’s Coffee and the Pomegranate Center who made this incredible project happen, some music, some food, and lots of free coffee. LAST WORK PARTY – HUNTER FARM GATHERING PLACE PROJECT

There’s a few loose ends that linger with the Hunter Farm Gathering Place before we can call the project fully complete.  So, we are welcoming anyone interested to come out this Saturday, September 10th, from 10AM – 5PM, for our final work party.  Our final ‘to do’ list is as follows: Install 4 grommet pairs along sail banners & cut in wind flaps, Install better system to hang banners, Install 5 remaining concrete tiles, Ship & Shore benches and stage, Finish moving mulch along fence line, Finish emergency shed, Eliminate trip hazards around tiles and sidewalk. Overwhelming Turn Out for the Hunter Farm Community Build

SAVE THE DATE: Tully’s Coffee will be throwing a Grand Opening Bash on Saturday, September 17th at 3:30pm at the site to celebrate.  Yes, there will be coffee amongst other great bash-related things.  More information in the coming days. Day 3 of the Hunter Farm Community Build

About 75 more folks came out to the Hunter Farm site today to help build a new gathering place for NE Seattle.  And today, things began to come together and take shape. A special thanks to the Wedgwood Presbyterian Church congregation for opening their church up to the volunteers and providing a delicious smorgasbord of food for lunch.  Wedgwood Presbyterian Church has been AMAZING this whole project.  Thank you to Garza Foods for contributing 20 delicious tamales for lunch as well.   What a supportive community we all live in.  And thanks to Podorhythmie for christening our new stage. Day 2 of the Hunter Farm Community Build

Day 2 of the Hunter Farm Community Build ended with the dulcet blue grass tones of Artichoke Ridge.  A little blue grass music and dancing is just the way to end a long day of work. Thanks to more than 205 unique volunteers, many of whom worked both Thursday and Friday, we’ve made a huge amount of progress towards our goal.   Also, special thanks to the Wedgwood Safeway today for providing food and beverages for all the workers.
