The Events Committee organizes two primary WCC-sponsored annual events and coordinates WCC support for and participation in other community events. These neighborhood events integrate the community with local businesses to further foster the woodsy, small town feel that epitomizes Wedgwood.
The annual Wedgwood Outdoor Cinema typically occurs on the first Saturday in August at the Hunter Farm Gathering Place (7744 35th Ave NE). We changed locations from the Thornton Creek playground to the Hunter Farm Gathering Place in 2012. Festivities typically kick off at 7PM with events and activities for families and kids. The movie gets underway when it gets dark enough, typically around 9:15ish.Sponsorships are critical to continue this important event each year. If you would like to sponsor the annaul Wedgwood Outdoor Cinema or another event though a financial contribution or donate time/services, please email » us!
Wedgwood’s Business Trick-or-Treat
Each year, the WCC coordinates a trick-or-treat in the Wedgwood Business District based on our local public school schedule with the participation of our 35th Ave NE business community. We print up the flyers, get out the word, and provide crossing guards for the intersections at 75th and 85th to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to trick-or-treat in the full glory of their costumes throughout our neighborhood. It’s a tradition that goes way back!
The Wedgwood Art Festival
The Wedgwood arts community comes together each year to put on the annual Wedgwood Art Festival. Starting in 2014, the Wedgwood Art Festival will be located at Our Lady of the Lake Church at the intersection of 35th Ave NE and NE 90th St, and not at the Hunter Tree Farm lot. The Wedgwood Art Festival is not affiliated with the Wedgwood Community Council, but it is a fantastic event for our community and we support the artists who work so hard to put it together.
