Anyone who has passed by 8038-8040 35th Ave NE recently has probably noticed that construction is well underway. After last September’s demolition of a long-vacant one-story building on the site, the new development has taken shape rather quickly. The site plans include three row houses along 35th Ave NE, with two townhouses and one single-family residence behind.
Tuesday, September 27th was Demolition Day at 8038 35th Ave NE. The sixty-five-year-old building was in a group of similar structures built by Wedgwood’s original developer, Albert Balch, on that block.
It has been almost ten years since an auto repair shop was demolished at 2418 NE 75th Street (corner of 25th Ave NE.) Environmental clean-up was done and now an application has been filed to build townhouses.
Around northeast Seattle, Spring 2016 is construction season with some old buildings being torn down.
Few people are aware that there is a trailer park at the western edge of Wedgwood at 2101 NE 88th Street, adjoining Lake City Way NE. In the next few years a new townhouse development will be built on the site.
