Even More Progress Being Made on the Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project

Last week, we updated you on progress that had begun on the Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project, which included building a prototype wheelbarrow bench and having pieces for 30 bird houses cut out.  Since then, EVEN MORE progress has been made to prepare for the COMMUNITY BUILD between August 18-21 (Have you REGISTERED YET?). As part of the Hunter Farm Gathering Place project, concrete tiles will be installed around the perimeter of the courtyard meadow off of 35th Ave NE.  This courtyard will provide a space for informal gatherings and seating as well as prairie grasses and wild flowers.  But these won’t be just any concrete tiles.  They’ll be artistically carved and beautified to provide color and interest to the site. A Flexible Design for Gathering at the Hunter Farm Site

UPDATE: Visit the Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project page to register for the COMMUNITY BUILD, between August 18-21. Last night, the Pomegranate Center unveiled the design developed for the Hunter Farm Gathering Place project, a project funded through a grant from Tully’s Coffee (I mean seriously, have you seen their Kuerig machine?). Over 70 people showed up to Wedgwood Presbyterian Church to hear Milenko Matanovic, the Executive Director of the Pomegranate Center, describe how the community shaped the design and what is intended by each design element. Hunter Farm Site Design to be Unveiled Wednesday Night!

HUNTER FARMS GATHERING PLACE DESIGN UNVEILING – COMMUNITY MEETING WEDNESDAY, JULY 13TH, 7 – 9 PM, WEDGWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH On June 11th, the NE Seattle community came up with 68 unique ideas for what can be done as part of the Hunter Farm Gathering Place project.  About 30 people teamed up to take these ideas and craft them into 4 conceptual site designs. Creativity Abounds at Hunter Farm Gathering Place Project Kick-Off Meeting

Today, about 90 people gave up part of their Saturday morning or afternoon to delve into the world of ‘what’s possible’ for the Hunter Tree Farm at today’s Hunter Farm Gathering Place Community Kick-Off Meeting and Workshop.  The morning started off with a presentation describing the project and the criteria which the project must be shaped around given challenges from the site’s zoning and the needs of the Hunter family.  After a brief description of these criteria, Milenko Matanovic with the Pomegranate Center led the community through a brainstorming exercise to identify the community’s dreams for the site.  (UPDATE) The Read More …
